Account Information (via Google/Apple SSO)

• Name
• Email address
• Profile photo (optional)

We do NOT collect your birthday for age verification. Age verification is handled entirely by Google and Apple during sign-in.

Profile Information (Optional)

You may provide additional details to personalize your profile:

• Birthday (optional – used only for profile personalization)
• Gender identity (optional – includes multiple gender identities to support LGBTQ+ users)
• Bio or description (optional)
• Profile photo (optional)

These fields are optional and not required to use the app. They are not used for advertising, tracking, or eligibility decisions.

Location Data

We collect your location only when you create an emotion signal.

Location is used to:

• Place your signal on the map
• Display emotional activity and trends around you

For privacy and safety:

• Your displayed location may include a ~200m randomized offset
• We do not track your location in the background
• We do not share precise GPS location with third parties

Location is used solely to enhance the map experience while protecting your privacy.

Uploaded Content

You may upload:

• Photos
• Text messages
• Emotion descriptions

This content is visible only within the Emhash platform based on your chosen privacy settings.

Usage Data

We collect:

• Emotion signals you create
• Reactions you give
• Support messages you send
• Hashtags you use
• App usage analytics (anonymized)

Device Information

• Device type and OS version
• Push notification token
• App version

Advertising Data (AdMob)

If you view ads in Emhash, Google AdMob may collect:

• IP address
• Device identifiers (IDFA/AAID if permitted)
• Approximate (coarse) location
• Ad interactions and performance data

This data is used only to deliver and measure ads. You may disable personalized ads at any time.

PRIVACY & ANONYMITY FEATURES

System-Generated Names

To protect your identity, you may choose a system-generated display name when:

• Posting emotion signals
• Sending support messages
• Interacting with others

This enables full anonymity.

Randomized Location Protection

To prevent revealing your exact location, emotion signals may display with a ~200m randomized offset.

HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

We use your data to:

• Display emotion signals on the map
• Show emotional surroundings and community trends
• Enable anonymous support messages
• Improve app performance and safety
• Send push notifications (with your permission)
• Enforce our 18+ requirement through Google/Apple SSO
• Display ads through Google AdMob

DATA STORAGE & INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

All user data collected by Emhash is securely stored on servers located in Asia. By using Emhash, you consent to the processing, transfer, and storage of your data in Asia, regardless of where you access the app.

We implement industry-standard security and privacy measures.

For users in regions with data protection laws (such as GDPR in the European Union), we provide:

• Data access
• Data deletion
• Correction of inaccurate information
• The right to withdraw permissions at any time

We do not transfer personal data to other regions unless required for legal, operational, or security purposes. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties.

DATA LINKING & TRACKING (APPLE ATT COMPLIANCE)

• Some account data (email, name, optional profile info) is linked to your identity for login purposes.
• Ad identifiers are collected only if you grant tracking permission.
• We do NOT engage in cross-app tracking or share data with third-party advertisers.

If tracking permission is denied, you will receive non-personalized ads only.

YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR-COMPLIANT)

You may:

• Access your personal data
• Request deletion of your account
• Request a copy of your personal data by contacting us at hello@emhash.com. We will manually prepare and provide the exported data as required.
• Correct inaccurate information
• Withdraw permissions (location, notifications, tracking) at any time

DATA RETENTION

Emotion Signals

• Signals disappear from the map after 24 hours.
• Signal data (text, images, reactions, support messages) is kept in your account history for 6 months.
• After 6 months, all related data is permanently deleted.

Account Data

• Retained until you delete your account.
• Once deleted, all personal data and content are permanently removed.

Analytics Data

• Retained for up to 24 months (anonymized).

AdMob Data

• Managed and retained by Google under their own privacy policies.

• TLS/SSL encrypted communication
• Secure cloud infrastructure
• Limited employee access
• Regular security audits

ACCOUNT DELETION

You may delete your account at any time in the app. All personal data, signals, images, reactions, and associated content will be permanently erased.
